About

My name is Avery. I’m an artist and designer based in studio practice and wearable work. I founded BitterBlonde in May 2023 as a way of bringing together two things that have always been closely bound for me: art and fashion. Within BitterBlonde, this takes shape primarily through jewelry. I source vintage pieces and found objects from around the world and give them new meaning. Some pieces are left intact, while others are designed and finished by me. Nothing is mass produced. Most things only exist once.

I’m currently studying Studio Art and Entrepreneurship, and BitterBlonde exists alongside my studio work rather than separate from it. The same sensibility runs through everything I make. In my artwork, I’m drawn to moments where something visually polished begins to feel heavy or uncomfortable. References to early digital imagery and anatomy appear throughout the work as subtle ways of thinking about time and the body. Working with jewelry allows these ideas to take a different form. Creating wearable objects shifts the work onto the body, where it changes through use and contact. Across mediums, the focus is on use and experience rather than interpretation.

BitterBlonde is where my art lives as jewelry.

It’s for people who want to wear something that means something, and who care about individuality.

Stay bitter.
